This year, the activity of cleaning the Lake Ćelije was organized in cooperation with the Municipality of Brus and PUC "Rasina", the Fish Keeper's Service, Fishermen's Associations, Young Scouts Group „Jastreb“, Association named „ Rajko of Rasina“, inhabitants of the settlement of Zlatari and other lovers of nature, who have contributed by providing people and boats. We were accompanied by the Representatives of the Emergency Management Sector of City Administration of the City of Kruševac who initially followed the situation on the Lake. Besides the director of PUC "Vodovod-Kruševac" Vladimir Milosavljević, this activity was supported by the Mayor of Kruševac Jasmina Palurović, Assistant of Mayor for Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy Olivera Drenovac, Director of the National Employment Service Predrag Marković and the Mayor of Brus Saša Milošević.
“Experienced by the flood in 2014, when almost 50,000 cubic meters of solid waste from the Lake Ćelije were collected, we were ready for the large quantity of waste from the upper flow of the Rasina river which flowed into the Lake Ćelije. Unfortunately, this is a picture that appears every year during the periods of increased atmospheric precipitation”, emphasized the director of PUC “Vodovod-Kruševac” Vladimir Milosavljević.
Immediately after the first rush of the waste, in cooperation with the Fishkeeper's Service and the Emergency Management Sector of the City Administration of the City of Kruševac, the first improvised barriers between the Vasic and the Zlatar Basin were set up, which stopped the further spread of waste farther to the catchment area. A couple of days after that, in June 6th, another adequate barrier was set up in cooperation with PC “Srbija Vode” and PC “Beograd vode “ who urgently reacted. Spreading of the waste was successfully stopped by the barrieres, and this action will help in a great deal to remove waste as much as possible from the surface of the water and the coast.
Despite the large amount of waste that flowed into the Lake, the water quality is on the high level and water supply was not endangered in any moment.
"In this activity, emphasis was put on the removal of waste from the Zlatar Basin which during the period of increased atmospheric precipitation was brought to the Lake Ćelije . PUC "Vodovod-Krusevac" manages this area and maximizes its efforts to implement Lake protection measures, in order to have a stable water supply in the region, as well as a provision of healthy drinking water. This way, I appeal to the citizens not to throw the waste into the lake and rivers, and preserving the Lake Ćelije is preserving the life of the City of Kruševac because we do not have an alternative solution for water supply, "said Jasmina Palurović, Mayor of Kruševac.
This year's action has also been organized as a part of Public Works that have been carried out for ten years so far, in cooperation with the National Employment Service and the City of Kruševac, and about 5,000 bags of solid waste are collected every year.
"I thank the PUC" Vodovod-Kruševac "and the City Administration of the City of Kruševac for their cooperation so far, because in the previous years we cleaned the Lake through the funds provided by the National Employment Service as well. We allocated funds for these purpose where we engaged hard-to-employ people, primarily workers with no qualifications, and this year the City of Kruševac has allocated 4 million dinars for Public Works, "said the director of the National Employment Service, Predrag Marković.
The accumulation of the Lake Ćelije is a very important water resource taking into acount that about 120,000 inhabitants from this region are supplied with the healthy drinking water from the Lake Ćelije. This year PUC ”Vodovod-Kruševac” celebrates two anniversaries, 35 years since the construction of the Water Factory in Majdevo and 40 years since the construction of the Dam on the Lake Ćelije.
About 70 people and 10 boats were engaged in this activity, and about 1,000 bags were collected.
